Sunday Theater
Kol Am teaches in a trimester-based model.
Each trimester, students create an original play, guided by educators who are professional artists and theatre-makers.
This play is inspired by texts and themes that relate to Judaism, such as immigration, community, and perseverance. Throughout the trimester, our educators help our students understand:
The building blocks of what makes a play
The importance of a theatre ensemble
How to infuse the essence of Jewish culture, history and values into theatre
What’s Jewish about theatre
What’s theatrical about Judaism!
Through games, acting exercises, and thoughtful conversation, a new piece of midrash (interpretation of texts) is born, taking the shape of a brand-new piece of theatre.
